Anthony Gallagher

Auctioneer & Valuer / Antiques & Rare Book

Anthony left college at 17 and went directly into the auction industry in Scotland and has remained in the business ever since. Spending fifteen years with Thomas Love & Sons of Perth, at the time the largest provincial auction house in the United Kingdom and under the tutelage of the great Tom Reid. Anthony joined Dunbar Sloane in 2006 with particular expertise in antique furniture, silver, porcelain, rare books and manuscripts. His passion for the auction industry remains as strong now as it was 40 years ago. 

Bettina Frith

Auctioneer & Valuer / Jewellery & Militaria

Bettina has always had a passion for the auction business, having left school at the age of 18 to pursue a career with Dunbar Sloane. Working her way through the company as typist, clerk, accountant, and after an OE trip returned to Dunbar Sloane and with Dunbar Senior established well developed specialist antique and jewellery auctions with a side interest in toys and dolls. 

James Parkinson

Head of Valuations, Oceanic Art & Auctioneer

James has thirty years’ experience working in the auction industry in New Zealand. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in History he went on to become Head of Valuations and Head Auctioneer at Webbs Auctions and was later a founding director of Art and Object. James has provided valuation services to many New Zealand museums and galleries and has project managed large scale museum and institutional valuations including the collection of the Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa, the National Library of New Zealand and Government House. James has expertise across almost all areas but with a particular interest in Māori, Oceanic and Asian art. In the last three years he has been involved in the repatriation of many significant taonga from overseas to museums and iwi throughout New Zealand. He holds a post graduate qualification in valuation methodology from the Property Institute of  New Zealand and is the only valuer in New Zealand working in the auction industry to hold this qualification.

Rebecca Dagarin

Head of Art Department

Rebecca has worked in the creative industries for 35 years since leaving Carrington Polytech with a Diploma in Interior and Furniture Design in 1987. Her experience in design history, antiques and visual arts is the basis of her experience and interest in Fine Arts. Rebecca runs the Art Department consigning works for auction as well as appraising and undertaking valuations.
